A ton of really easy picks today
Skip the Pacers vs. Nets, the Nets are playing without Deron Williams against a mediocre Pacers team.
Celtics vs. Knicks
Go with the Celtics on the money line at (-135). The Knicks have been playing horrible.
Grizzlies vs. Jazz
Grizzlies at (-380). They need this win to shore up their post-season berth.
Spurs vs. Warriors
Go with the Spurs at (-800). Nuf Said.
The other three games there are no money lines for.
What I am doing is playing the most high percentage pick and taking all of the underdogs at max points.
This means:
Cavs at +15
Kings at +18.5
Raptors at +15.5
However, this is slightly risky, so I would not recommend it for everybody.
This blog will give a professional gambler's picks to most NBA and NCAA games, as well as other sports bets.

Save Your Money
Today, there are not enough predictable games to be able to create a diversified gambling portfolio. You either have 2 bad teams playing each other or 2 mediocre teams playing in the second night of a back-to-back.
Both of these scenarios make for unpredictable betting.
Both of these scenarios make for unpredictable betting.

NBA Games: 3/18/11
There are some great lines today, let's try and keep the perfection alive,
Nuggets vs. Magic
Every day, the oddsmakers write off one of the hottest teams in basketball, and so far, 9 times out of the past 11 they have been wrong. I still have faith: go with the Nuggets at +6 and push it to +9. Should be a close game, and look for the Nuggets to score an impressive win tonight.
Heat vs. Hawks
Look for the Heat to bounce back from a tough loss to OKC against a struggling Hawks squad. Go with the Heat at (-260). They are trying to fight for the 1 seed and ride hot into the playoffs.
Knicks vs. Pistons
Although the Knicks are playing in the second night of a back-to-back, the Pistons suck. Go with the Knicks at (-160) and watch for Stoudemire to have a big game here (and break out of his recent slump).
Bobcats vs. Thunder
The Thunder are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and are facing a Bobcats team that is among the coldest. Look for an insurance bet here and take the Thunder at (-600).
Spurs vs. Mavs
This is a great game tonight, but one that I think the Spurs will ultimately win. Even if they don't, the game will at least be close. For this reason I am taking the Spurs at +2 and pushing it up to +5. Look for the Spurs to use their rest to come back after a horrible loss in Miami with a signature victory.
Suns vs. Warriors
Look for the Suns to snap out of their recent slump here and use Steve Nash to catalyze a big win tonight and to stay in the playoff hunt. The 9-24 (away) Warriors are a perfect team to do this against, as the Suns' high octane offense will break down the non-existent Warriors defense. Go with the Suns at (-230).
76ers vs. Kings
Look for the 76ers to strengthen their bid for the 6 seed with a big win over a horrible Kings squad. The 76ers have won five straight in this series and look for them to make it 6. Play them on the money line at (-220).
Timberwolves vs. Lakers
Do not touch this game. The spread is 14 points and there is no money line. Stay away.
Rockets vs. Celtics
This will be a tough game for Boston to win but look for them to keep their momentum alive against a surging Chicago quad that has won 8 straight and is making a bid for the 1 seed. Go with the Celtics at 0 and push it up to +3.
Washington vs. Toronto and New Jersey vs. Milwaukee
Both are unpredictable- stay away.
Chicago vs. Indiana
Look for Chicago to keep its win streak alive against a struggling Pacers squad. D Rose will have a big game here tonight- play Chicago on the money line at (-175).
Nuggets vs. Magic

7-0 Perfection
In my best day of picking yet, I went a perfect 7 for 7 in a day that saw some major upsets.
To all of my readers... you're welcome,, and I hope that makes up for some recent mediocre days.

NBA Games: 3/16/11
Let's jump right in.
Nuggets vs. Hawks
Although the Hawks have been playing good recently, they are playing in the second night of a back to back against one of the league's hottest teams. Go with the Nuggets at +1 and push it to +4, and pray for a close game.
Raptors vs. Pistons
Both suck. Stay away.
Pacers vs. Celtics
Although the Celtics haven't been playing well recently, look for them to rebound against a Pacers team that is playing in the second night of a back-to-back. The Pacers edged out the Knicks yesterday but the Celtics will come out hungry to retake the number one seed from Chicago. Pick the Celtics at (-600).
Magic vs. Bucks
Go with the Magic at (-250) and be thankful for the opportunity. The Bucks have been playing absolutely terrible recently and have been blown out of their last two games. Couple that with playing in the second night of a back-to-back against a strong Orlando team, and you are faced with a recipe for disaster.
Hornets vs. Suns
Go with the Hornets at (-200). They have played strong at home and they are looking to remain in the playoff picture. Couple that with the return of Chris Paul and the Suns' lack of Steve Nash, and you can see that the Suns will have a hard time overcoming the Hornets defense.
Thunder vs. Heat
Although I have bet against their last two blowouts, I'm going to call the Thunder at +7 and push it up to +10. KD and the Thunder have been playing great basketball recently and they just received Kendrick Perkins back, a center who can dominate the Heat inside. Also, look to their last game, which was decided on a go ahead three by Eddie House and you can see that the Heat's blowout streak can end here.
Rockets vs. Bobcats
Go with the Rockets at (-275). They are fighting for a playoff spot against a Bobcats team that simply isn't that good. Also, the Rockets have been playing great in their playoff push.
Cavs vs. Kings and Twolves vs. Jazz
Stay away from both, WAY too unpredicable
Mavs vs. Warriors
Go with the Mavs at (-165). They are looking to overcome their loss yesterday against a Warriors team that has been playing bad as of late. Also, they are looking to retain the 2 seed over the Lakers. Golden State is just the team they need right now.
76ers vs. Clippers
I'm going to stay away,, the 76ers have been too unpredictable recently, as have the Clippers.
Nuggets vs. Hawks
Although the Hawks have been playing good recently, they are playing in the second night of a back to back against one of the league's hottest teams. Go with the Nuggets at +1 and push it to +4, and pray for a close game.
Raptors vs. Pistons
Both suck. Stay away.

My pick to win it all...
For the people who have sent me emails asking who my prediction is to win the NCAA tournament, my official prediction will be the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes have played the most consistent basketball of the year and have shown that they have the ability to compensate for the poor play of their superstars and still win games.
*NOTE* Please see my post about bracketology for more details, but I am NOT encouraging playing a tournament bracket. I would rather bet on individual games and not compound the risk. However, if you must participate in the March Madness tradition, go with the Buckeyes.
Record 3/14/11 and picks for today
I didn't do terrible yesterday, as I went 5-3 (as Kobe Bryant started so I went with the Lakers on the money line). Furthermore, I knew the Boston pick was tentative at best, so all-in-all a good day of picking.
Today, save your money. There is not a good enough selection of games to create a good gambling portfolio.

NBA Games: 3/14/11
I apologize for the lack of picks yesterday. To be honest, there weren't any lines that I felt like netting on. Even gamblers can take a day off.
Back to business.
Celtics vs. Nets
Although the Celtics have had some trouble recently and are playing in the second night of a back-to-back,the Nets will be playing their first game with Deron Williams back. Expect this to be an interesting game, but I'm going with Boston on the money line at (-230). However, this could turn out to be very close and don't be surprised to see a Nets win here.
Thunder vs. Wizards
The Thunder at (-350) is a great security pick here. Although KD and the Thunder are playing in the second night of a back-to-back, the Wizards have been playing horrible recently and the Thunder are 22-4 against horrible teams. Look for a Thunder win here.
Spurs vs. Heat
As much as I want to say that the Heat will blow the Spurs out of the building, this is the same Heat team that lost by 30 to the Spurs just one week ago. That being said, I'm playing the Spurs at +4.5 and pushing it up to +7.5.
Nuggets vs. Hornets
This will be a close game, with 2 hot teams competing to maintain their playoff spot. My guess is that the game will wind up in the Hornets favor, however to lower risk, I will call the Nuggets at +3 and push it to +6.
Grizzlies vs. Clippers
Go with the Grizzlies at (-240) and look for them to rebound against that horrible loss to Miami here tonight.
Suns vs. Rockets
Go with the Rockets at (-300). Both teams are making a playoff push and Steve Nash is out for the Suns. This will be a toughly fought game, but look for it to go to the Rockets.
76ers vs. Jazz
The 76ers are one of the hottest teams in the league, and the Jazz have been one of the worst. Look for Philly to rebound after its loss to the Bucks against an often listless Jazz team. Take Philly at (-1.5) and push it up to (-.5). In my opinion, this is the best betting line of the day.
Warriors vs. Kings
Don't touch this game. Both teams suck.
Lakers vs. Magic
This is an important game and a very difficult one to call. This is especially cloudy since Kobe Bryant might not be playing. That being said, my tentative pick is to take the Magic at +6 and push them up to +9. However, if Kobe Bryant plays, take the Lakers on the money line.

Back above .500
Well, after yesterday's poor performance I took a step back in the right direction, ending the day at 5-3.
Not bad considering the three I got wrong were Miami's biggest win of the year, a come from behind win by Atlanta, and a Bucks team absolutely demolishing the 76ers.
Check back tomorrow for more picks.

Check back tomorrow for more picks.
NBA Games: 3/12/11
Today, I hope to make up for my horrible performance yesterday: and fortunately there are some quality betting lines.
Grizzlies vs. Heat
My bet is the Grizzlies at +8 and pushing it to +11. The Grizzlies are a good team that need to maintain their tenuous grip on the 8 seed in the West. Also, the Heat played great against the Lakers, but also had a 5 game losing streak before that. Look for a close game here.
Hawks vs. Blazers
Both teams are playing in the second night of a back-to-back and have to make up for recent losses. I think this will be a close game, but my bet is on Portland at +1, and then pushing it to +4. Look for a close game here, but I think Aldridge and the Blazers will prevail, so that they do not risk losing their playoff spot.
Clippers vs. Wizards
Both teams suck. Stay away.
Hornets vs. Kings
The Hornets at (-550) is a good insurance pick here. They are fighting to stay in playoff contention and are facing a horrible Kings team that has lost 5 straight. Look for CP3 to come out strong here, and beat the Kings at home for the 5th consecutive time.'
Jazz vs. Bulls
The Bulls on the (-700) money line is a great security bet. The BUlls have been playing their best basketball of the season against a horrible Utah team that is slumping and just lost to the Timberwolves.
76ers vs. Bucks
I think the 76ers at +2 and than pushing it to +5 is a great betting line. The 76ers have been playing great ball recently and have been fighting for the 6th seed. The Bucks have been playing mediocre against bad teams, and I don't think they can contain the 76ers.
Spurs vs. Rockets
Go with the Spurs at (-1.5) here and buy 1 insurance to make it a (-.5). The Rockets have been playing well but might be without Luis Scola. The Spurs have been hot recently and the Rockets are coming off of a close loss to Phoenix. Its a tough pick, but I'm going with the Spurs.
Lakers vs. Mavericks
Tough call. Both are great teams that are playing well. Both have recently suffered some embarassing losses. In this situation, I'm going to take the Lakers at +1 and push it to +4. When in doubt, go with the points.
Nuggets vs. Pistons
The Nuggets at (-600). The Pistons have been playing horrible and the Nuggets have been one of the hottest teams in the league. Easy call here.

Record: 3/11/11
Thanks to a series of surprising upset wins, today was my worst day yet, as I went 3-5. Fortunately, this only wiped out my profits from the last 2 days, but it was unfortunate nonetheless/

NBA Games: 3/11/11
Unlike yesterday, there are quite a few good betting lines today.
Blazers vs. Bobcats
Taking the Blazers at (-190) is a great betting line tonight. The Blazers have been red hot and are fighting to remain in the playoff picture. The Bobcats have been playing horrible and are consigned to their losing fate. Also, look for Gerald Wallace to exact revenge against the Bobcats team that traded him.
Nets vs. Clippers
Don't touch this one. Both teams are missing key pieces of their lineup and this game can truly go either way.
Celtics vs. 76ers
My bet is the Celtics at (-130). Both teams have been playing pretty good this year and have been hot recently. The Celtics haven't lost in Philly for nearly 4 years and they will come out hungry to both protect their number one seed and to avenge their home loss to the Clippers.
Pacers vs. Raptors
Look for the Pacers to end their slump here, and take them at +1 and push it to +4. The Pacers have been getting killed recently, but look for them to turn it around and try to solidify their playoff push here. Also, the poor shooting by the Pacers is due for a regression to the mean, which should help them against a poor defense like Raptors.
Thunder vs. Pistons
Take the Thunder at (-500) and call it a security pick. The Thunder have been playing great basketball recently and the Pistons have been playing terrible. They have nothing to play for and have lost 9 straight to a Western conference opponent. Easy pick here.
Hawks vs. Bulls
Look for D Rose and the Bulls to avenge a horrible loss to the Atlanta Hawks tonight. They are hungry and have been playing hot. Take the Bulls at (-350) here and watch D Rose not make the same mistakes twice.
Jazz vs. Twolves
This should be a close game. Both teams haven't been playing horrible recently, and the Jazz can still complete for a playoff spot. In a situation like this, go for the points and take the Jazz at +1 and push it to +4.
Kings vs. Spurs
Take the Spurs at (-800). The Kings have been slumping hard and the Spurs have been red hot. It's an easy insurance bet.
Magic vs. Warriors
The Magic are in contention for the division title and jostling for playoff seeding. Look for them to come out hungry against a slumping Warriors squad. Bet on the Magic at (-200) and watch D12 ereck the horrid Warriors defense.
Blazers vs. Bobcats
Taking the Blazers at (-190) is a great betting line tonight. The Blazers have been red hot and are fighting to remain in the playoff picture. 2 out of 3 ain't bad
Well, it could have gone better. New York could have rallied in the 4th to pull it to within striking (and gambling) distance of the Mavs, but they didn't.
That being said, I still correctly called 2 of the 3 NBA games and was able to come out with approximately 13% profit on the day. Considering the lines offered today, I'm satisfied with that.
In which other moneymaking strategy besides gambling can one merely be "satisfied" with a 13% profit in a day without taking significant risk?
No rhetorical question there: if you have an idea, I'd love to hear it. But until then, check back tomorrow for more picks.

Web Directories: gaining exposure
So, as you all know, I have been trying to build up a fan base for my blog over the past few weeks. I tried listing it on quite a few blog directories and trying various advertising strategies.
I would like to write about the best method of gaining exposure that I have found so far, so that I can possibly help others who are trying to build followings for their respective websites.
Jasminedirectory.com is a great resource to list your website, not only because of the high traffic it receives, but also due to the SEO potential. I listed my website on business web directory and noticed an immediate increase in traffic. Also, I noticed that I moved up significantly on Google Search results. My business listing on Jasmine Directory directly accounted for over 50 new unique visitors to my website in only 2 days.
Just to briefly touch on some of the additional benefits of Jasmine, as compared to some other directories. In addition to SEO, they allow you to post 5 deep URL's, which can be used to draw visitors to a desired location in your website. Also, they create automatic thumbnails in order to visually enhance your listing. They are also W3, css, and HTML valid.
In addition, a website directory has the potential to draw a lot of editors to your website to provide feedback as to how to increase traffic. One of the editors who contacted me through Jasmine directory provided me with some great tools to not only increase traffic, but also enhance my content as well by providing more analysis and not simply picks.
In conclusion, if you are simply a sports fan that enjoys reading my picks, then this post probably does not apply to you and you can rest assured that I will still be providing my no-strings attached, free daily NBA picks. For those who have emailed me and asked me questions about advertising and creating their own blogs, then this post is for you. It's just an idea, but one that could have positive effects on your blog.

NBA Games: 3/10/11
Today there are only three games, all of which are close and all which are tough to pick. Today is not a good day to bet if you are afraid of losing. That being said, I am making my three picks that I am betting on (300$ on each pick- the amount of money I made off of betting on my picks yesterday), even though all three would be considered tentative on a day with good lines.
Lakers vs. Heat
On this pick, I am taking the heat at +2.5 and bumping it up to +5.5. I know they are in a slump, but they are going to come out on their home floor and be hungry for a win to prove critics wrong. Couple that with Lebron's demonstrated success against Kobe and the Lakers and the 16 point Christmas day victory, and you have the recipe for a close game. In this scenario, go with the points.
Mavs vs. Knicks
This is another go with the points scenario. Take the Knicks at +5.5, push it up to +8.5, and hope that Carmelo and the new-look Knicks will be able to defeat a Mavericks team that just suffered a 1 point loss to the CP3-less Hornets. They have been hot lately, and Carmelo has been good against the Mavs in the past, so look for a close game where the Knicks don't get blown off of the court.
Suns vs. Nuggets
This is the easiest pick to make of the day. Take the Nuggets at +3.5 and bump it up to +6.5. The Suns will likely be playing without Channing Frye against a deep Nuggets team that has been playing well, despite losing their 2 biggest stars. Both teams are fighting for the playoffs, and expect a tough game, and look for a Nuggets win or close loss.

All good things must come to an end
Well, the streak of perfection had to end sometime.
today it was a few upset wins that ended my streak, although I managed to pull off an extremely solid 7-3 record, despite the Clippers beating the Celtics at home and the CP3-less Hornets making an 8 point comeback against the Mavs in the last 1:13.
Check back later for my picks today as I try and start a new streak of perfection.

My theories on risk and money making
As many of you have probably noticed on my blog, I am extremely risk averse in my picks. Some people have emailed me asking me to be more aggressive in my picks, however I am going to explain why I feel that this is the wrong strategy to pursue.
I have taken numerous risk management classes and have learned quite a bit on how to minimize risk while still creating money making opportunities.
I take an individualist view towards risk: I believe that by minimizing the risk in each individual position, you can earn money quickly, while not exposing yourself to huge losses.
However, if you want to get cash now, and in bulk, then my strategy is not for you. I would never pick a 10:1 underdog and tell you to bet on it. If I felt that an underdog could win, I would hedge my bets by taking the maximum amount of points possible so that my prediction could still be wrong and I would earn 10% on my money.
So far, my picks have averaged around a 20%% return per day. Anybody would kill to make that kind of money on online stock investing or on currency trading. A 5,000 investment could average you 1,000 dollars PER DAY. Considering that refinance interest rates are 5% per YEAR, you can see how my investment strategy succeeds compared to traditional investments. When you consider the time/investment ratio, you can average this 1,000 per day on literally minutes of work. This is a better money/time ratio than one of those mesothelioma lawyers makes if he wins one of those class-action mesothelioma lawsuits. Therefore, even my risk-averse picks will earn you more money than ANY traditional investment strategy with a lower time investment and a significantly lower downside.
I hope this post was helpful and explanatory. And for the followers, know that my picks aren't changing any time soon. I will still try to maximize profit and minimize risk.
NBA Games: 3/9/11... 3 days of perfection?
Let's see if I can extend my 2 days of perfect picks.
Bulls vs. Bobcats
My pick is the Bulls on the money line here. This is a very secure pick, and at (-300), worth it. The Bulls have been red hot lately and are trying to make a push for the number 1 seed in the east. The Bobcats have been playing absolutely horrendous basketball lately and may be without Stephen Jackson. Look for an easy Bulls win here.
Jazz vs. Raptors
The Jazz have beaten Toronto 11 times straight and it looks like they will likely do the same tonight. The Jazz have not been playing well, but Al Jefferson has been on a tear and they look like they will be able to right their ship against a struggling Raptors team. My pick is the Jazz at (0) and then adding 3 points to make them a +3.
Nets vs. Warriors
This is a tough call. The Warriors are playing away in the second night of a back-to-back against a Nets team that is getting better, but will be without star point guard Deron Williams. Without Deron Williams, look for Golden State to win it here and take the money line at (-130).
Thunder vs. 76ers
The 76ers have been a hot team in basketball lately, however I believe them to be overrated in this game. Look for OKC to recover from a tough loss in Memphis and win here. However, I still think this has the ability to be close, so I am calling the Thunder at +1.5 and then pushing it up to +4.5. I honestly don't see KD and the Thunder losing by more than 5 points to an inferior Philly squad. Especially when home court advantage is at stake.
Clippers vs. Celtics
The Celtics on the money line at (-460) here is a great way to add security while minimizing risk. The Clippers have been playing decently recently, but have mostly beaten bad teams in their recent mini- hot streak.. The Celtics are hungry to preserve their number 1 seed and will play with intensity on their home floor. Easy call, Celtics win.
Hornets vs. Mavs
The Hornets could possibly be playing without Chris Paul, David West, and Trevor Ariza in their game against the second best team in the West. At best, you have a team that has been playing mediocre basketball filled with players coming off injuries, facing a team that is 9-1 in its last 10. Go with the Mavs on the money line at (-210).
Bucks vs. Cavs
The Bucks played a very strong game against a horrible team yesterday, and look look for their 1 game winning streak to extend against a Cavs team that is 4-27 on the road. Also, thanks to the horrid state of the Eastern conference, the 24-38 Bucks are still in playoff contention. Look for them to play hard here and come away with the win. Play the money line at (-550).
Timberwolves vs. Pacers
Both teams suck and have been slumping hard. Someone has to win I suppose, but it would be impossible to pick who. Don't bet on this game.
Knicks vs. Grizzlies
Whenever I bet against the Grizzlies, I always call them overrated and then they promptly go and prove me wrong. That being said, I might later regret saying that the Grizzlies are overrated in this matchup. I think they will win, but the safer bet is to play the Knicks at +4.5 and push it to +7.5. The Knicks high-octane offense will keep the game close.
Pistons vs. Spurs
Spurs at (-900), need I say more? The Pistons have been playing horrible basketball and will be playing a Spurs team that is fighting to maintain the number one seed and looking to rebound after a close loss to the Lakers. They have so far only lost 3 games at home, and this won't go to 4 today.
Magic vs. Kings
Magic at (-500) is the safe pick here.Look for the Magic (now with Dwight Howard back) to destroy the Kings here and avenge an embarrassing home loss a few weeks ago. Another insurance pick.
Bulls vs. Bobcats

Perfection- 2 days in a row!
No push's today, just raw, simple, perfection.
Today I called 5 games, and got 5 right, 0 wrong, and 0 push.
That is 2 days of perfect picks in a row.
Check back tomorrow to see if I can make it 3?
I hope you all are liking my picks. Over the past few days, I hope I have convinced you that sports gambling is a great method of money making and can help you to earn money with little work.

NBA Games: 3/8/11
Can I make it 2 perfect days in a row?
76ers vs. Pacers
My call is the 76ers at +1, and then pushing it up to +4. This is going to be a close game, however the 76ers have been playing far better basketball then the Pacers as of late and are fighting to maintain their 6 seed. When in a close game situation, always take the points.
Warriors vs. Cavaliers
Bet on the Warriors on the (-175) money line and expect them to end their 2 game skid against a Cleveland team that is dealing with major injuries. This is a great line to bet on, as the Warriors have been fighting good teams down to the wire, and should have no problem repeating their 116-98 win over Cleveland on January 7.
Lakers vs. Hawks
This is a tough call. The Lakers have been the hottest team in basketball recently and it looks like they can repeat a 104-80 win over Atlanta here tonight. The Hawks are tired as they play their 8th game in 13 days and look for them to struggle out of the gate and let the Lakers build up a lead that they cannot overcome. My pick is the Lakers at (-210).
Blazers vs. Heat
The Blazers have been playing great basketball recently, and the Heat are in a four game losing stretch. Look for the Heat to end that tonight against a Blazers team that they beat in overtime earlier in the season. However, it is going to be a close game, so I'm picking the Blazers at +8.5 and then 3 points to make it +11.5. When in doubt, go with the points.
Rockets vs. Suns
Both the Rockets and the Suns have been playing great basketball lately and both are trying to make a playoff push. However, the Suns will be without Channing Frye and the Rockets are playing in the second night of a back-to-back. Therefore, expect a close game and take the Rockets at +5 with 3 points of insurance.
Bucks vs. Wizards
I'm not touching this one. Both teams have been playing horrendous basketball lately. One of them has to win, but I'm not sure who.
76ers vs. Pacers
My call is the 76ers at +1, and then pushing it up to +4. This is going to be a close game, however the 76ers have been playing far better basketball then the Pacers as of late and are fighting to maintain their 6 seed. When in a close game situation, always take the points.

Perfection Achieved!
After a few days of flirting with perfection, it has finally been achieved.
Today I was 5 right, 0 wrong, and 1 push in route to my best day since creating the blog.
After winning by one point yesterday, the Grizzlies kept me from being 6-0-0, but could not win by enough to beat my prediction.
Check back tomorrow as I now go for consecutive perfection.

NBA Games: 3/7/11
Thanks to some fortuitous injuries and omissions, there are some fantastic betting lines today.
Blazers vs. Magic
Ordinarily, this would be a difficult pick. Both teams are hot and have been playing good basketball lately and are fighting for playoff seeding. However, Dwight Howard is suspended for this game due to receiving 16 technical fouls this season. This tips the scales in Portland's favor and allows me to confidently pick them at +1.5, with 3 points of insurance.
Clippers vs. Bobcats
Don't touch this game. The 5-25 road win Clippers are playing an equally dreadful Charlotte team without Stephen Jackson. For all we know, they could both lose.
Knicks vs. Jazz
Go with the Knicks on the money line at (-250). This is a great line, as the Jazz have been slumping hard without Deron Williams and they could be without Paul Milsap due to a knee injury. Look for Melo and Stat to dominate this Jazz squad that has run out of stars.
Bulls vs. Hornets
Go with the Bulls at (-750) and call it a security pick for your portfolio. New Orleans will be playing without CP3, as he suffered a concussion against Cleveland. New Orleans can not afford losing their all star and then playing against a red hot Bulls team that is coming off a huge emotional victory Miami.
Mavericks vs. Timberwolves
Although their 8-game winning streak was snapped, the Mavs have won 16 of 17 against the Timberwolves. As such, playing them on a (-300) money line is a fantastic gambling opportunity. The Mavs will halt their skid here and right their ship against a Timberwolves team that has never really gotten it together.
Thunder vs. Grizzlies
Both coming off big wins last night, the Grizzlies will try and keep their playoff run alive with a win against OKC. Although I believe it could happen, I'm going to call OKC at +3 and then push it to +6. Both teams have been playing great basketball recently and I think it is going to be a close game. When in doubt, take the points.
Rockets vs. Kings
The Rockets at (-190) is a great line to bet on. They are hungry for a playoff spot and are charging into contention, winning 6 of 7. Meanwhile, the Kings have been playing terrible and have lost 4 of their past 5. This will be an easy win for the Rockets.
Blazers vs. Magic
Ordinarily, this would be a difficult pick. Both teams are hot and have been playing good basketball lately and are fighting for playoff seeding. However, Dwight Howard is suspended for this game due to receiving 16 technical fouls this season. 1 point...
1 point in the Mavs vs. Grizzlies game is all that stood between me and a perfect 8-8. Still a great day of picks though, as I went 7 right and 1 wrong.
Check back tomorrow for more NBA and NCAA picks.

NBA Games: 3/6/11
Following up another phenomenal showing yesterday, their are quite a few great lines to bet on here again today.
Bulls vs. Heat
As much as I would ordinarily hate to bet against the Heat, I'm going to have to bet on the Bulls at +5 and push it to +8. I think this is a great betting line, as the Heat have lost 3 out of four games, including one to the Bulls. The Bulls are coming off of a big win against Orlando and simply are playing better basketball then Miami. If the Heat win, don't expect it to be by much.
Lakers vs. Spurs
With Tony Parker coming off of an injury, the Spurs were able to pull of a huge win over Miami. However, this Lakers team has been playing great basketball as of late and are looking for a signature win here. That being said, I'm going to pick the Lakers at +3 and push it up to +6. Don't think the defending champions are going to be blown off of the floor here.
76ers vs. Warriors
Go with the 76ers on the money line at (-310). They have been playing great basketball and are fighting for a higher playoff seeding against a road weary Warriors team that has been in a long slump. Expect the 76ers to come out looking for a win and to try and climb into 6th place.
Suns vs. Thunder
Take the Thunder on the money line at (-220). Kevin Durant and company will be looking to cool off the red-hot Phoenix Suns at home tonight. The Thunder have won three of five in this series and Kevin Durant has been playing some of his best basketball of the season. Look for the Thunder to rally around KD coming off of an ankle injury and beat a Phoenix team that is playing the second night of a back-to-back.
Pistons vs. Wizards
Can I pick them both to lose? Both teams suck, don't even think about betting on this game.
Mavericks vs. Grizzlies
Look for the Mavericks to keep their winning streak alive against a recently cooled Memphis Grizzlies team. Bet on the Mavericks on the money line at (-270). They have been playing great basketball of late and are facing a Grizzlies team that just lost badly to the Hornets. Their 8 game winning streak will go to 9 here.
Celtics vs. Bucks
Go with the Celtics at (-330) and consider yourself lucky. The Bucks have been playing horrendous basketball recently and the Boston Celtics have been playing inspired ball with their new additions. The Celtics will win easy: use this as a risk manager in your gambling portfolio.
Hornets vs. Cavs
Take the Hornets at (-190), need I say more? CP3 has been playing great basketball and the Hornets are fighting for their playoff lives after a horrendous stretch. Know that they are not going to take this game lightly, they are coming in to win and consider themselves fortunate at the opportunity for an "easy" win.
Knicks vs. Hawks
As we have seen with the Heat, don't count Melo and Stat out. They are +4, I'd bet on em and push it to +7. The high-octane Knicks offense won't roll over on the Hawks here, and look for them to keep the game close even if they do not manage to pull off a win.
Bulls vs. Heat
As much as I would ordinarily hate to bet against the Heat, I'm going to have to bet on the Bulls at +5 and push it to +8. I think this is a great betting line, as the Heat have lost 3 out of four games, including one to the Bulls. NCAA Games: 3/4/11
Alabama vs. Georgia
Go with Alabama at (-190). They need this win to have a shot at the SEC crown and Georgia's leading scorer has been battling injuries. Look for Alabama to bounce back after its loss to Florida with a decisive and important win against Georgia here.
Texas Tech vs. Texas A&M
Texas A&M at (-550) is a great line here. The Aggies will look to end their 2-game skid against a Texas Tech team that is 2-8 on the road. The Aggies have already beaten Texas Tech on the road and look for them to continue this streak here. This is a security pick, a low-risk scenario that adds profits to a gambler's portfolio.
Notre Dame vs. UConn
Unfortunately for the red-hot Notre Dame, I'm going to go with UConn at (-145). Notre Dame has lost 7 in a row to UConn and will need this win to try and earn a first round bye in the Big East tournament. Notre Dame hasn't won there since the 1999-2000 season, and don't look for this to change tonight.
San Diego State vs. Colorado State
San Diego State at (-800) is a great insurance pick here. They will be fighting for a share of the conference crown against a slumping Colorado State team. A great money pick to reduce risk in a gambling portfolio, especially on a risky NBA day.

NBA Games: 3/5/11
Today there are quite a few good lines to play, both in NCAA and in the NBA.
Nets vs. Raptors
I'm going to call the Nets winning again, betting on the money line at (-145). They had an impressive win yesterday, and there is nothing to suggest that it will not be replicated.
Timberwolves vs. Wizards
In the battle between two of the league's worst, my pick is the Timberwolves at +4 with three points of insurance. Kevin Love has been playing some of the best basketball of the year and the Wizards team has been slumping as of late. Although I think the Wizards will likely win, look for the Timberwolves to keep the game close.
Houston vs. Indiana
The Rockets will be playing a Pacers team that is 10-20 on the road and playing the second game of a back to back. They will also try and rebound from their tough loss to the LA Clippers and fight to try and make up the three games that stand between them and the playoffs. Bet on the Rockets at (-260) to beat this slumping Indiana team that appears to be locked into the 8-seed.
Sacramento vs. Utah
Betting on Utah at (-340) is the way to go here. This Jazz team is trying to recover from the loss of D-Will and are playing a Kings team without Tyreke Evans and that is 7-21 on the road. Look for them to commence their playoff push on a Kings team that they should beat.
Charlotte vs. Portland
Go with Portland at (-750) and consider it a security pick. The Bobcats have been slumping hard and are without two of their best players against a Portland team that is jostling for playoff seeding. As we saw yesterday, don't bet against the Bobcats to keep it close, but a Portland win here seems extremely likely.
Nuggets vs.Clippers
This is a great line today, picking the Nuggets at +1 and pushing it to +4. The Nuggets have been red hot since the Carmelo Anthony trade and the Clippers have not exactly been scorching recently. At the very least, the Nuggets will keep it close, if they don't manage the victory. There is absolutely no reason to bet against the Nuggets here.

Record: 3/4/11
After that temporary blip yesterday, my record is back in full force.
Today, when calling 10 games and 1 tentative pick
I was:
8 right, 2 wrong
(1-0 on my tentative picks)
Twas a shame, as I was a perfect 8-8 going into the last 2 games on the day, but today was still a very profitable day that made up for a marginally less profitable day yesterday.
Check back tomorrow for my picks.

NBA Games: 3/4/11
Unlike yesterday, there are some great NBA opportunities available for today. Let's break them down.
Raptors vs. Nets
My pick is the Nets at (-155). They have been playing better each successive game since acquiring superstar Deron Williams. Also, these teams are playing in London, so look for D-Will to rise up to the big stage. New Jersey is trying to end a 6-game slump here, and a struggling Toronto team is the perfect way to do it.
Bulls vs. Magic
My pick is the Bulls at (+1.5), with 3 points of insurance. The Magic are coming off of a hard fought win at Miami and they will be going against a formerly hot Bulls team that just collapsed against Atlanta. Look for D-Rose and co to bounce back against Dwight Howard, and at the very least keep the score within 4.
Timberwolves vs. 76ers
Go with the 76ers at (-500). In a day like this, with a ton of close games, you need some security in your portfolio. Minnesota is 5-25 away, and don't expect it to change against a Philadelphia team that is motivated by a playoff push and the jostle for seeding. However, I don't think that the 76ers will necessarily blow them out, so I would stay away from the spread.
Warriors vs. Celtics
In another attempt to bring security to your daily portfolio, go with the Celtics at (-550). They are playing inspired basketball of late and they are going against a slumping and road-weary Warriors team. The Celtics are 26-5 at home and will be playing hard in order to integrate Jeff Green into the rotation.
Cavs vs. Knicks
An interesting game. No money line is being offered and the Knicks are (-12.5). However, they will be playing without Chauncey Billups against a Cleveland team sans Antawn Jamisen. The Cavs have twice upset the Knicks this season, but don't expect that trend to continue. Play Cleveland at +15.5, look for them to keep the game close. Also, if it is a blowout, look for New York to rest its starters.
Thunder vs. Hawks
I'm not touching this game. The Thunder will be missing Kevin Durant and The Hawks' Josh Smith is day-to-day. However, Russell Westbrook and Al Horford will be playing for their respective teams. My tentative pick: Russell Westbrook leads the Thunder to at least within 4, so bet on OKC at +4.
Hornets vs. Grizzlies
An interesting game. The Hornets and CP3 will likely try and end a 3 game skid and protect their half-game lead against the Memphis Grizzlies. Look for Chris Paul to come out strong and play hard and try to end Memphis' 5-game home win streak. That being said, I still think the Grizzlies have a good shot at winning, but not by more than 8.5, that being said, bet on the Hornets at +5.5 and buy 3 points of insurance.
Pacers vs. Mavs
Since the honeymoon period of Coach Vogel is over, I do not think the Pacers have what it takes to stop the 7-game win streak of the Dallas Mavericks. They just had an ugly road loss to an OKC team that missed Kevin Durant, and the Mavericks have been on a tear through every team that they have faced. Go with the Mavericks at (-400).
Suns vs. Bucks
Go with the Suns on the money line at (-145). They are looking to get back into the playoff hunt after losing at Boston and the Bucks have been slumping hard recently. They have won four out of their past 5 meetings with the Bucks and they will look to make it 5 of 6. They also badly need this game, as they are 1 and a half games out of a playoff seed. Look for Phoenix to be playing inspired basketball and earn a hard-fought road win.
Spurs vs. Heat
Go with the Heat at +2, and buy 3 points of insurance to make it a +5. The Heat are looking to bounce back against consecutive embarrassing losses and are desperately craving a statement victory. Also, the Spurs will be without Tony Parker, so the Heat's seeming inability to guard star point guards will not be a factor. Although the Spurs will likely win, the Heat rarely have lost by more than 5 points this year and do not expect it to start in San Antonio.
Lakers vs. Bobcats
Go with the Lakers at -12, and buy 3 to push it down to -9. The Lakers are looking to avenge an ugly loss to the Bobcats earlier in the season and beat a team that has beaten them 8 of 10 times. However, these two victories came when Gerald Wallace (now traded) was injured. You have to like the chances of a Lakers team who has won five straight, playing at home against a Charlotte team that just got beat by 40 points to the new-look Nuggets.
Raptors vs.

Bracketology: my thoughts
Hey,
As we all know: March Madness is coming up soon. With March Madness comes the incredible allure of brackets and the inevitable rise of bracketology.
As a professional gambler: I have one main piece of advice when it comes to making brackets- just say no!
Brackets are the #1 way that people lose money, as it essentially forces you to accept more risk than is acceptable.
When it comes to bracketology, the smart money stays home. Bet on the individual games instead, and accept the minimal amount of risk.

Record: 3/3/11
Today was a particularly poor day, if only because of the small sample size.
I went 2-2
1-1 on NBA and 1-1 on NCAA
However, I did get the two right that were not the tentative picks, which makes up for the 50% performance today.

NCAA Games: 3/3/11
Like with the NBA games, the NCAA lineup is hardly a gambler's dream.
Wisconsin vs. Indiana
Go with Wisconsin at (-270). Although the Badgers have not been their best on the road, they are riding a four game winning streak against a team that they have beaten already this year. They have won three in a row at Indiana, and do not look for them to start now. However, their subpar road performance does indicate that you should exercise caution when betting on them, yet another time when you don't gamble the rent money.
Saint Johns vs. Seton Hall
This is essentially a tentative pick, but I am betting on it due to the good line being offered. Go with St. Johns at (-150) against Seton Hall. They are by far the better team, yet have not beaten them on the road in 13 years. Look for that streak to end today.

Unfortunately for gamblers, there is not a particularly good set of games to bet on today.
Heat vs. Magic
I'm going to go with the Miami Heat here on the money line (-210). This is essentially a tentative pick that I am betting on, as the Magic have been on fire recently. However, I think the Heat's talent will prevail, as it has already twice this season. If you bet on this game, don't bet the rent money.
Nuggets vs. Jazz
This is a great line. Take the Nuggets at +3.5, then you can add three points of insurance. The new-look Nuggets have been on fire as of late. The Jazz have been slumping and do not look they can blow anybody out by more than 6 points.

Record: 3/2/11
Another great day to bet using my picks.
10-3 on thirteen games
7-2 on NBA games
3-1 on NCAA games
Yet again, my tentative pick was wrong, but this is why they are tentative.
Check back tomorrow for more picks!

NCAA Games: 3/2/11
There are some great NCAA lines today, although a few of them carry some risk for a high reward.
First, let's call the sure-thing low reward picks.
Duke vs. Clemson
Look for Duke (+950) to win it's final home game and maintain a perfect home record against a Clemson team with a 3-6 road record that has lost 7 straight road games against top 25 opponents.
Pitt vs. USF
Go with Pitt at (-600). Expect them to beat USF, making it USF's 12th straight loss against a ranked opponent. Pitt will come in to win, with a share of the conference crown on the line.
Here are my lower risk- higher reward picks
UNC vs. FSU
Bet on UNC, as it tries to secure the ACC regular season crown and ride its 5 game winning streak. Bet on UNC on the money line at (-130). The last time these two played, UNC won 89-69, and do not look for any change this time.
Conn. Vs. WVU
Go with Connecticut at +5, and buy 3 to make it a +8. These two teams are tied at 7th in the Big East. Expect this to be a hard fought game by both sides and in this case: take the points.

NBA Games: 3/2/11
There are some great lines to bet on tonight. Let's see if I can follow up my 9-1-1 performance yesterday with something similar today.
Warriors vs. Wizards
This is a pretty easy call. Go with the Warriors at (-1). They are by far the better team, although you can't tell by their record. This is slightly risky because they are away and have only won 7 on the road, however I can not justify betting on the Wizards team against the high-octane Warriors squad.
Spurs vs. Cavaliers
This is a tough call. The Cavaliers are gutted after trading away Mo Williams, not having Baron Davis, and sustaining an injury to Antawn Jamisen. However, the Spurs are missing Tony Parker. All being considered, I am going to play it safe with this one and call Spurs on the money line at (-500).
Bulls vs. Hawks
Go with the Bulls on the money line at (-160). They have been playing inspired basketball against a slumping Hawks team. They are currently fighting for the top playoff seed against a team that just lost to the gutted Denver Nuggets. Rose will live up to the MVP chants in this game.
Hornets vs. Knicks
I am not touching this one. The Knicks will be playing without Chauncey Billups against a Hornets team that is looking to break out of a slump. Expect poor chemistry from the Knicks, and my tentative call is the Hornets at +2.5.
Timberwolves vs. Pistons
Go with the Timberwolves at +5, and buy 3 insurance points. The Pistons are a slumping team riddled with internal strife, against a Timberwolves team that has been playing fairly well as of late. Look for Kevin Love to play a big role in at least keeping this game close.
Suns vs. Celtics
This a close call, but I'm calling the Suns at +7 with 3 points of insurance to make it a +10. I do think that the Celtics will win, but they are still integrating their post trade players into the rotation and the Suns have been winning lately. Also, Doc Rivers will sit his aging stars if it is a blowout, which would allow Phoenix to keep the score within 10.
Pacers vs. Thunder
Look for the Thunder to bounce back against the struggling Pacers and bet on the money line at (-330). The honeymoon period for coach Vogel has ended and it simply does not look likely that Indiana is going to be able to beat OKC at home. Also, Indiana is coming off of a tough win against Golden State, so look for a slow start against a fast-paced Thunder team.
Nuggets vs. Bobcats
I would go with the Nuggets at -6.5, and buy three to lower the risk to only -3.5. They are a hot team that is playing a Charlotte squad that lost their all star player and face of the franchise and that has a unique home field advantage due to their high altitude. Look for the Bobcats to keep it close early, then die out, as the starters get tired and Coach Silas has to dig deeper into his bench.
Blazers vs. Kings
This is an easy call. Go with the Blazers on the money line at -150. The Kings are overrated playing in this game against an inspired Portland team that is jostling for playoff seeding. Portland has won four consecutive games on the road and look for them to continue this streak here.
Rockets vs. Clippers
This is a fairly easy call to make. Take the Rockets at +3, and buy 3 to push it to +6. Although I am a fan of the Blake Show, the Clippers have been in a huge slump since the All Star Break and the Rockets have won 5 straight and have inserted themselves back into playoff contention. Look for the Rockets to continue their momentum into this game, and minimize risk by taking the points, as there is no way that the Rockets will lose by more than 6.

Record: 3/1/11
Today was a good day to follow my picks.
In my best showing of the three days, I had a record of:
9 correct (and 4-0 on my NCAA picks)
1 incorrect (and one tentative pick)
1 push
Honestly, beautiful results.
Check back tomorrow for my daily NBA and NCAA picks.
Also, soon I will be writing up my personal method for deciding how much money to invest on a given day and how to best distribute the money over the games that I am picking.

NCAA Games: 3/1/11
There are quite a few good lines on the NCAA games today.
Ohio State vs. Penn State
Ohio State at (-280) is an amazing deal here. Ohio State can clinch a share of the conference title here with a 15th straight win over a team that they have beaten this season already. This is a money bet, and likely the best in this day filled with NCAA heavyweights..
Purdue vs. Illinois
Purdue at (-500) is a low risk-low reward bet that adds some security to any gambling portfolio. Purdue has won seventh straight and is hyper-motivated to chase Ohio State for the conference crown. Purdue is undefeated at home and it does not look like this will end against Illinois, who has not won consecutive games since the beginning of the season and is 3-6 on the road.
San Diego State vs. Wyoming
San Diego State at (-800) is a super low risk- low reward. San Diego is looking for a bounce back win after their second loss of the season. Three days after its first defeat of the season, San Diego beat Wyoming 96-57, and it does not appear that tonight will be any different. Another security pick.
Alabama vs. Florida
Florida will be playing for a share of the SEC championship and look here for a home victory at (-260) over the Crimson Tide. Florida has won 7 straight at home against the Crimson Tide, who have a 4-5 road record this season. This is a good opportunity to add significant reward to your portfolio with less than significant risk.

This is a good opportunity to add significant reward to your portfolio with less than significant risk.
NBA Games: 3/1/11
Today there are some very good NBA opportunities, and this post will break them down.
Warriors vs. Pacers
In this game, the Pacers are -250, and to be honest, I do not think they justify that high of odds. If you were going to bet on tis game, go with the Warriors at +6 and buy 3 points of insurance. The Warriors are trying to end their slump and I do not see one of the top scoring teams in the league losing to Indiana by double digits. That is my official prediction, but if you are going to go with a money line, pick the Warriors, as they provide a higher upside relative to the risk.
Knicks vs. Magic
Go with the Knicks at +7, and buy 3 points to make it +10. The Knicks are going to be looking for their second straight win off of a playoff team and will be more motivated than the Magic. Also, with their high powered offense, I do not see them losing by double digits.
Hornets vs. Raptors
Go with the Hornets on the money line at (-260). They are fresh off of a close loss to Houston and need to fight for a higher seed in the west. They are also reintegrating David West and Emeka Okafor into the lineup, and this second game should give them more comfort against a Toronto team that has lost 2 straight.
Mavericks vs. 76ers
My pick is the Mavericks on the money line at (-135). I think the 76ers are overrated in this game, while the Mavericks are riding a 6 game winning streak. I feel like this has the potential to be a close game, but the experience of the Mavericks will allow Dallas to leave with the win.
Lakers vs. Timberwolves
My pick is the Lakers on the money line at (-500). While I think that Minnesota has the ability to keep it close, the Lakers need this win more than they do and the clutch play of Kobe Bryant will prevail in the end. Although this is not a particularly high reward game, the risk is minimal.
Spurs vs. Grizzlies
I am not touching this game. This will be the Spurs first game this season without Tony Parker starting and I have yet to see how they play. My tentative pick is the Spurs at +1.5, because the experience of the other veterans will pull them through, but this Memphis team is fighting for their playoff lives right now and they are hot, so I would not bet this game.
Bucks vs. Pistons
Go with the Bucks at (-190). The Pistons are a team in disrepair as there has recently been a player mutiny and the starting lineup is in constant flux. Pair that with a Bucks team that is trying to claw its way into the 8th seed of the playoffs, and you have a Bucks victory.
Rockets vs. Blazers
I would take the Rockets at +5 and buy three points to make it +8. The Rockets are on a 4 game winning streak and have one of the highest scoring teams in the league against a Portland team that is riddled with minor injuries. Although I think Portland will likely win this game, expect the Rockets to keep the game close and not get blown out of the stadium.
Warriors vs. Pacers
In this game, the Pacers are -250, and to be honest, I do not think they justify that high of odds. If you were going to bet on tis game, go with the Warriors at +6 and buy 3 points of insurance.
