NBA Games: 3/20

A ton of really easy picks today

Skip the Pacers vs. Nets, the Nets are playing without Deron Williams against a mediocre Pacers team.

Celtics vs. Knicks

Go with the Celtics on the money line at (-135). The Knicks have been playing horrible.

Grizzlies vs. Jazz

Grizzlies at (-380). They need this win to shore up their post-season berth.

Spurs vs. Warriors

Go with the Spurs at (-800). Nuf Said.

The other three games there are no money lines for.

What I am doing is playing the most high percentage pick and taking all of the underdogs at max points.

This means:

Cavs at +15

Kings at +18.5

Raptors at +15.5

However, this is slightly risky, so I would not recommend it for everybody.

Save Your Money

Today, there are not enough predictable games to be able to create a diversified gambling portfolio. You either have 2 bad teams playing each other or 2 mediocre teams playing in the second night of a back-to-back.

Both of these scenarios make for unpredictable betting.

NBA Games: 3/18/11

There are some great lines today, let's try and keep the perfection alive,

Nuggets vs. Magic

Every day, the oddsmakers write off one of the hottest teams in basketball, and so far, 9 times out of the past 11 they have been wrong. I still have faith: go with the Nuggets at +6 and push it to +9. Should be a close game, and look for the Nuggets to score an impressive win tonight.

Heat vs. Hawks

Look for the Heat to bounce back from a tough loss to OKC against a struggling Hawks squad. Go with the Heat at (-260). They are trying to fight for the 1 seed and ride hot into the playoffs.

Knicks vs. Pistons

Although the Knicks are playing in the second night of a back-to-back, the Pistons suck. Go with the Knicks at (-160) and watch for Stoudemire to have a big game here (and break out of his recent slump).

Bobcats vs. Thunder

The Thunder are one of the hottest teams in the league right now and are facing a Bobcats team that is among the coldest. Look for an insurance bet here and take the Thunder at (-600).

Spurs vs. Mavs

This is a great game tonight, but one that I think the Spurs will ultimately win. Even if they don't, the game will at least be close. For this reason I am taking the Spurs at +2 and pushing it up to +5. Look for the Spurs to use their rest to come back after a horrible loss in Miami with a signature victory.

Suns vs. Warriors

Look for the Suns to snap out of their recent slump here and use Steve Nash to catalyze a big win tonight and to stay in the playoff hunt. The 9-24 (away) Warriors are a perfect team to do this against, as the Suns' high octane offense will break down the non-existent Warriors defense. Go with the Suns at (-230).

76ers vs. Kings

Look for the 76ers to strengthen their bid for the 6 seed with a big win over a horrible Kings squad. The 76ers have won five straight in this series and look for them to make it 6. Play them on the money line at (-220).

Timberwolves vs. Lakers

Do not touch this game. The spread is 14 points and there is no money line. Stay away.

Rockets vs. Celtics

This will be a tough game for Boston to win but look for them to keep their momentum alive against a surging Chicago quad that has won 8 straight and is making a bid for the 1 seed. Go with the Celtics at 0 and push it up to +3.

Washington vs. Toronto and New Jersey vs. Milwaukee

Both are unpredictable- stay away.

Chicago vs. Indiana

Look for Chicago to keep its win streak alive against a struggling Pacers squad. D Rose will have a big game here tonight- play Chicago on the money line at (-175).

7-0 Perfection

In my best day of picking yet, I went a perfect 7 for 7 in a day that saw some major upsets.

To all of my readers... you're welcome,, and I hope that makes up for some recent mediocre days.

Check back tomorrow for more picks.

NBA Games: 3/16/11

Let's jump right in.

Nuggets vs. Hawks

Although the Hawks have been playing good recently, they are playing in the second night of a back to back against one of the league's hottest teams. Go with the Nuggets at +1 and push it to +4, and pray for a close game.

Raptors vs. Pistons

Both suck. Stay away.

Pacers vs. Celtics

Although the Celtics haven't been playing well recently, look for them to rebound against a Pacers team that is playing in the second night of a back-to-back. The Pacers edged out the Knicks yesterday but the Celtics will come out hungry to retake the number one seed from Chicago. Pick the Celtics at (-600).

Magic vs. Bucks

Go with the Magic at (-250) and be thankful for the opportunity. The Bucks have been playing absolutely terrible recently and have been blown out of their last two games. Couple that with playing in the second night of a back-to-back against a strong Orlando team, and you are faced with a recipe for disaster.

Hornets vs. Suns

Go with the Hornets at (-200). They have played strong at home and they are looking to remain in the playoff picture. Couple that with the return of Chris Paul and the Suns' lack of Steve Nash, and you can see that the Suns will have a hard time overcoming the Hornets defense.

Thunder vs. Heat

Although I have bet against their last two blowouts, I'm going to call the Thunder at +7 and push it up to +10. KD and the Thunder have been playing great basketball recently and they just received Kendrick Perkins back, a center who can dominate the Heat inside. Also, look to their last game, which was decided on a go ahead three by Eddie House and you can see that the Heat's blowout streak can end here.

Rockets vs. Bobcats

Go with the Rockets at (-275). They are fighting for a playoff spot against a Bobcats team that simply isn't that good. Also, the Rockets have been playing great in their playoff push.

Cavs vs. Kings and Twolves vs. Jazz

Stay away from both, WAY too unpredicable

Mavs vs. Warriors

Go with the Mavs at (-165). They are looking to overcome their loss yesterday against a Warriors team that has been playing bad as of late. Also, they are looking to retain the 2 seed over the Lakers. Golden State is just the team they need right now.

76ers vs. Clippers

I'm going to stay away,, the 76ers have been too unpredictable recently, as have the Clippers.

My pick to win it all...

For the people who have sent me emails asking who my prediction is to win the NCAA tournament, my official prediction will be the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes have played the most consistent basketball of the year and have shown that they have the ability to compensate for the poor play of their superstars and still win games.

*NOTE* Please see my post about bracketology for more details, but I am NOT encouraging playing a tournament bracket. I would rather bet on individual games and not compound the risk. However, if you must participate in the March Madness tradition, go with the Buckeyes.

Record 3/14/11 and picks for today

I didn't do terrible yesterday, as I went 5-3 (as Kobe Bryant started so I went with the Lakers on the money line). Furthermore, I knew the Boston pick was tentative at best, so all-in-all a good day of picking.

Today, save your money. There is not a good enough selection of games to create a good gambling portfolio.
